Intramural Dodgeball

Dodge Ball

To start off the week we will have Dodge Ball on Mondays from 12:00pm to 1:00pm in the gymnasium. You can have a maximum of 12 players on a team but we want to have games of 10 v. 10. We are going to set up divisions and have team standings and eventually an intramural Dodge Ball Tournament. The teams will be seeded according to how they do during the “regualr season”. The following rules will be implemented during Dodge Ball to ensure the safety and well being of all participants.

Those are the rules of Dodge Ball on mondays. Gather as many people as possible, make a team, make uniforms, and most of all come have some fun.

Season Finale for Dodge Ball

The dodge ball season came to a close in intense fashion. The combined two teams of over thirty strong came out in full force ready to play for the championship. It actually played out in a way that no one expected. We had two teams in our league, after losing a team due to baseball season. The two teams were Channel 4 News and The Regulators. The Regulators took their lumps the entire season and could never seem to get on the same page with one another which ultimately led to them losing a lot of games this season. Channel 4 News was just the opposite. They seemed to click from the very first week of action, and many times over the course of the season they defeated The Regulators with relative ease. It wasn’t until the last few weeks of the season where everyone saw Channel 4 News go through a collapse. They went from winning all the time, to winning very seldomly. They would win a couple games here and there but it was not enough to stop The Regulators from creeping back up into the standings. For the last week of the season, the billing was set. Five games were scheduled for the final day. All Channel 4 News had to do was win two of those five games. The Regulators had to win at least three of the five games to win the title, and they did just that. The Regulators took four out of the last five games to come back and win the Spring 2008 FMCC Dodge Ball Championship. All members of the teams recieved a championship T-shirt, and The Regulators will go down as my first dodge ball champions. I am hoping for a great dodge ball turn out this fall, and look forward to crowning the dodge ball champs this fall.

Season Finale for Dodge Ball

If anyone pays attention to movies about vampires, then you will know that the way that you kill a vampire is by driving a stake through their heart. If you have been paying attention to dodge ball this semester then you will know that The Lumbersacks have been waiting to drive a stake through the heart of the defending champions all semester. This team will have to wait no longer as they put the stamp on their dodge ball championship for the fall semester this past Monday. They steam rolled the defending champion Regulators en route to a record of 7-1 on the day, and opened up an enormous 9 game lead with one day of dodge ball left in the semester. They ran their overall record to 44-35 while The Regulators slipped to an abismal 35-44.

The Lumbersacks have been crowned dodge ball chamions for the Fall 2008 semester. They will recieve T-shirts and the team MVPs will recieve trophies. The t-shirts will be given out to the Lumbersacks on February 18th, so it is very important that all members are present on that day of dodge ball.

Can this team repeat or will someone knock them of their pedastle this semester. There is only one way to find out, and that is to come to dodgeball this semester. Dodge ball will once again be on Monday and Wednesday from 12:00 to 1:00. Hope to see you all there.

Fall 2008 Dodge Ball Champions - The Lumbersacks

Dodge Ball Spring 2009

The past two semesters saw dodge ball intramural numbers jump to an all time high with The Regulators being crowned champions in the Spring of 2008, and with The Lumbersacks being crowned champions in the Fall of 2008. Dodge ball can only go up from here, and we are always looking for new teams and players. This semester however has seen dodge ball numbers drop, and it is up to you the students to revitalize the sport. Dodge ball will still meet the rest of the semester on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:00-1:00pm.

The Athletic Booster Club run by Intramural Coordinator Ryan LaRowe, will be sponsoring a dodge ball tournament before the end of the spring semester. The goal is to have at least eight teams or more participate in the tournament with the winners being given a championship trophy and t-shirts. The event will take place in the FM Gymnasium and instead of closing the divider and cutting the gym in half we will use the entire court. Please see Ryan LaRowe in P106 for details.

Please help us in bringing dodge ball back to life on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:00-1:00pm.
